Hello
Sama Hesham
I am 23 years old and graduated in 2023 with a degree in Languages and Translation, specializing in Chinese. Currently, I work as an editorial executive at one of the largest creative agencies in Egypt and the Middle East. My aspiration is to become a writer, and I strive to learn something new every day.
I have a strong interest in acquiring new skills and exploring various activities. Although I consider myself an outdoors person, I can be quite shy and anxious at first. One of my core motivations is to bring joy to others and help them learn something new. This desire to create positive experiences is what drives me to identify as a maker.
My Journey
I have always had a deep passion for craftsmanship, exploring various hobbies that allowed me to express my creativity. What mattered most to me was the uniqueness of my projects, as well as the joy they could bring to others. My true journey into making began in 2022 when I attended my first Maker Faire. I often wonder how different my path might have been had I discovered this community earlier.
At the Maker Faire, I was inspired by the diverse talents of the creative individuals I encountered.
This experience motivated me to pursue my passion seriously. I have always loved giving unique and thoughtful handmade gifts. When I discovered the world of melted beads, it felt like I had found my true calling. From phone charms to earrings, coasters, and magnets, the possibilities with melted beads are endless. I believe that creativity knows no age, and with beads, anyone can express themselves artistically.
My project focuses on creating a variety of items using fuse beads, which are non-toxic plastic beads that melt with heat. These creations can be educational, such as tangrams, or decorative, including coasters, magnets, earrings, and bookmarks. The possibilities are truly endless— limited only by one's creativity and imagination.
Currently, I am working on establishing the first Egyptian brand that manufactures these beads from scratch, rather than importing them. I am also committed to making the beads eco-friendly by using recycled plastic. While I have begun incorporating 3D printing into my process, I am actively exploring more affordable production options.
