In its first collaboration with an Egyptian NGO, MIT worked with Fab Lab Egypt to install four fabrication labs in four STEM school (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in Egypt out of 11 schools. In addition to that, Fab Lab Egypt took the responsibility of training 11 Fablab managers, the teachers and over 850 students on using the machines and tools, and worked with the management team of the project on integrating the digital fabrication technologies with the school curriculum. Both schools are supported by the USAID and the Egyptian Ministry of Education.

Each year MFC arrives with greater plans and more surprises, but MFC’18 was a game changer: MFC’18 went all regional. On the 10th of March, 2018, the Smart Village Club witnessed a clash of civilization as MFC’18 welcomed representatives of more than X countries of the MENA region, and even more international guests and speakers.

One of the highlights of the day was the participation of the renowned guests: Matt Richardson, the Raspberry Pi Foundation’s Executive Director, and David Cuartielles, the Arduino Co-founder.

Egypt wins the Fab’13th pitch, to host the international Fab’15 conference in 2019

On the 5th of August, 2017, Egypt (represented by Fab Lab Egypt and Fab Lab New Cairo) won  the Fab’13th pitch in Chile, against Canada, UAE, and China, to host the international conference Fab’15 in 2019.

The Fab Conference attracts international leaders in the fields of science and technology, major international manufacturing companies and members of the more than 1,200 worldwide Fabs Labs, where they gather  to share, discuss, collaborate and create communities around the different local and global interests regarding digital manufacturing, innovation, and technology.
